Unleashing Performance with Champion’s New API SQ & ILSAC GF-7 Engine Oils

Champion API SQ and ILSAC GF-7 engine-oil range

Modern petrol engines are smaller, hotter and more powerful, often combining turbocharging, direct injection and hybrid assistance. API SQ and ILSAC GF-7 were introduced to address the additional stress these designs place on engine oil.

What the new standards improve

  • Stronger protection against low-speed pre-ignition in turbocharged engines.
  • Improved timing-chain wear control and high-temperature deposit resistance.
  • Better sludge and varnish control for cleaner operation.
  • Fuel-economy and emission-system performance for current engine designs.
  • Cold-temperature pumpability and dependable start-up protection.

GF-7A and GF-7B

GF-7A covers the viscosity grades used by most petrol passenger cars and light vans. GF-7B applies to ultra-low-viscosity SAE 0W-16 applications. Both categories are designed to remain compatible with the corresponding earlier GF-6 requirements.

Ready for workshops and drivers

Champion has expanded its OEM Specific range with formulations that meet API SQ and, where applicable, ILSAC GF-7. Always confirm the viscosity grade and manufacturer specification in the vehicle handbook before selecting an oil.
